Due to COVID-19, we have had to cancel our original plans for a Victor Walk tour through BC this summer. However, the awareness this movement was built on seven years ago is still incredibly important and we don’t want to lose momentum. For 2020, we are taking Victor Movement virtual, and there are many ways you can help us make the biggest impact of all this year.

How can I raise awareness?

The Victor Walk day will still be Saturday, July 25th. Though we will not be encouraging large gatherings due to health restrictions and safety, we encourage you to initiate or take part in online awareness initiatives.

  • ·Change your profile picture on July 25th: This was an awareness move that started during the first Victor Walk in 2013, which had thousands of people from all over North America switching their profile pictures to Victor the Frog for the day, in a show of solidarity for the millions of Victors out there. If you wish to do this, you can use this file.

  • ·Wear Orange! Orange is the colour of courage and the cape for Victors and their supporters. We encourage you to wear orange and post a photo and tag #VictorWalk2020 #OrangeOut and be sure to tag Breaking Free Foundation so we can share.

  •  Share your story: the spirit of the Victor movement is all about vulnerability and the courage to share our stories. When someone else can say “that happened to me too”, they are no longer alone and that’s when they start to transform from victim to Victor. We encourage you to share your stories on social media by posting words or videos. Again, please tag us with #VictorWalk2020 #OrangeOut and Breaking Free Foundation on social media. If we can get this movement trending on social media, we can garner a lot of eyeballs on our message!

  • Plan a virtual or social distancing walk: there is nothing stopping you from sporting orange and taking to the streets in your city or hometown. We just ask that you do so safely and according to regulations in your jurisdiction. Again, please tag us with #VictorWalk2020 #OrangeOut and Breaking Free Foundation on social media.

  • Purchase a copy of Victor the Frog or share the link: the story of Victor the Frog is available as a children’s book with 100% of the proceeds going to Breaking Free Foundation. We appreciate the support: https://www.blurb.com/b/10070885-victor-the-frog

We will be re-posting all of your stories on July 25th and the days leading up. Let’s get #VictorWalk2020 trending and give a voice to all the Victors out there!
